Why wait until the middle of summer to go to the Jersey Shore? We decided it was time for a change of scenery, so we packed our bags for a few days of sun, sand, and boardwalk treats in Ocean City, NJ.

Well, the weather did not cooperate with our plans, but being at the Shore is always enjoyable. We stayed at the veritable Port O’Call Hotel right on the Boardwalk (https://www.portocallhotel.com/). You know, the Pink Hotel you can see from almost anywhere in Ocean City?

The Port O’Call was offering a great “pre-season” package which included 4 nights with breakfast for a very affordable per person price. They are offering the same kind of package for the post-season as well.

Our Deluxe Coastline Room included a fabulous view of the entire coastline of the Jersey shore. I wonder how far you can see… what town is that?

The food at Adelene’s is great. The breakfasts and the service were fabulous every day. Everyone is smiling and happy to have the guests back in the restaurant. The Chef wants to impress with every meal. The cinnamon roll is big enough for 2. If the day is sunny, there are tables outside that you can choose to eat at instead of looking out of the floor to ceiling picture windows.

Even on the cloudy and cold days, a walk on the Boardwalk is always a treat, or you can find a treat. Salt water taffy, caramel corn, burgers, pizza, boardwalk fries, ice cream, even lobster rolls are available. This year there are even more food selections to choose from. The best part is, since we were already on the Boardwalk, we just had to walk outside of the Port O’Call and choose which way we wanted to walk.

On the sunny day of our stay we sat out by the glistening pool. It was a great spot for people watching and listening to the waves crash on the beach. The dunes were calling us, but that day, the umbrella table by the pool seemed like the ideal spot.

Truth be told, my husband has been visiting the Port O’Call since he was a child. Once I finally had the chance to visit Ocean City and stay at the Port O’Call, we have been frequent visitors. Even last summer at the height of COVID-19, the staff at the Port O’Call did their best to maintain the hotel in a way that allowed guests to have a “normal” vacation at the Shore. This year, things were getting back to normal and everyone was looking forward to more normalcy as the season progresses.

If you are looking for a great spot to plan a short getaway to a multi-week vacation, a girls’ weekend or family trip, the Port O’Call has the facilities and options to meet your needs. From Ocean front, Bay front, Coastline, and city view rooms to a Penthouse and Oceanfront guest house, this is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the fun in Ocean City. Don’t forget, they have a Spa too.

See you in September!
