This entry is part 12 of 19 in the series Barcelona to Rome

After a short sail from Barcelona overnight, we awoke in the port of Cartagena, Spain. This is a lovely old city with many remains from the Roman empire and also lovely examples of Spanish architecture, all in the main square and in walk-able distance from the cruise port.

Architecture in Cartagena Spain

We left the ship and followed our fellow cruisers to the main plaza in Cartagena. There were lots of people milling around but not many stores were open since it was a Sunday.

Statues and artwork, restored buildings and a museum. Since we were still a little tired from our whirlwind turn around Barcelona, we wandered around and took pictures of the plaza. Then about lunch time we wandered back to the ship to enjoy the peace and quiet.

We will need to go back and explore this lovely seaport area.
